SECTION 2: UNDERSTANDING & OPENING THE ZIP FOLDER
What is a ZIP File?
To deliver multiple file formats neatly and efficiently, all your digital files are compressed into a single folder with a .zip extension. Think of it as a digital suitcase that keeps all your files together during delivery. You MUST "unpack" this suitcase to use the files inside.
How to Open (Extract) a ZIP Folder:
On a Windows PC:
- Locate the downloaded .zip file (usually in your "Downloads" folder).
- Right-click on the file.
- Select "Extract All..." from the menu.
- Choose a destination (like your "Documents" or "Desktop" folder) and click "Extract."
- A new folder will appear with the same name. Open this new folder to access all your SVG, PNG, and DXF files.
On a Mac:
- Locate the downloaded .zip file.
- Simply
- It will automatically extract into a new folder in the same location. Open this new folder to find your files.
On a Mobile Device (Phone/Tablet):
- You will need a free app to unzip files, such as "Files" by Apple (iOS)" or "WinZip" or "RAR" (Android).
- Download the ZIP file to your device, then open it with one of these apps. The app will allow you to extract and view the individual files.
SECTION 3: USING YOUR FILES WITH YOUR SOFTWARE & MACHINES
⚠️ CRITICAL FIRST STEP: You must complete Section 2 and extract the files from the ZIP folder before you can use them. Your software (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, etc.) cannot open a .zip file directly.
A) For Cricut Design Space (Using SVG Files):
- Unzip your download folder (see Section 2).
- Open Cricut Design Space and start a new project.
- Click the "Upload" button on the left-hand menu.
- Click "Upload Image," then "Browse."
- Navigate to your unzipped folder and select the .SVG file.
- Click on the uploaded image in "Recently Uploaded Images" and then click "Insert Images."
- The design will now appear on your canvas. You can resize, layer, and change colors as needed.
- For Script Fonts or Complex Designs: If the letters are disconnected, select the entire design and click "Weld" at the bottom of the layers panel. To keep elements in place relative to each other, select all layers and click "Attach."
B) For Silhouette Studio (Using SVG or DXF Files):
- If you have Silhouette Studio Business Edition (or a version that supports SVG):
- Go to File > Open and navigate to your unzipped folder.
- Select the .SVG file. It will open directly on your mat.
- If you have the FREE Basic Edition:
- Use the .DXF file included in your download.
- Go to File > Open and select the .DXF file.
- The design will open on your mat. You may need to use the "Trace" function for more complex designs.
C) For Other Software & Print-on-Demand (Using PNG Files):
- The .PNG file has a transparent background and is high-resolution (300 DPI).
- It is ready to be imported into software like Adobe Photoshop, Canva,
- For sublimation or print-on-demand sites (like Printful, Merch by Amazon), upload the PNG file directly to their design tool.
SECTION 4: TROUBLESHOOTING COMMON PROBLEMS
Problem: "I can't open the file in Cricut/Silhouette! It says invalid or won't upload."
- Solution: You are almost certainly trying to upload the .ZIP folder. You must extract the individual .SVG or .DXF file from the ZIP folder first. Your machine software cannot read a .ZIP file.
Problem: "The design is cutting as a solid image/box, or the text is all broken up."
- Solution 1: Ensure you uploaded the .SVG file, not the .PNG. The PNG is for printing, not cutting.
- Solution 2 (Cricut): Use the "Weld" tool for script text to connect the letters. Use the "Attach" tool to keep separate elements in their correct positions when you send it to the mat.
Problem: "I can't find my download email!"
- Solution: First, check your Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders. If it's not there, log in to your account on our website and go to your Order History to download the files directly. The email is a backup.
Problem: "The PNG looks blurry when I print it."
- Solution: Our PNGs are 300 DPI, which is professional print quality. Blurriness occurs if you stretch the image significantly larger than its original size in a program like Microsoft Word. Use professional design software (Canva, Photoshop, etc.) and ensure your scaling settings are correct.
Problem: "I downloaded the wrong file/I want a different design."
- Solution: Due to the digital, instant-delivery nature of our products, we cannot process exchanges or refunds for accidental purchases. Please contact us if there is a technical issue with the file itself, and we will be happy to help.
SECTION 5: IMPORTANT TIPS & BEST PRACTICES
Save Your Files: After unzipping, save the folder with all the file formats to a dedicated location on your computer (e.g., "My Craft Files") or an external hard drive. This ensures you always have a backup.
Which File to Use?
- For Cutting Machines (Cricut/Silhouette): Use the SVG file.
- For Silhouette Basic Edition: Use the DXF file.
- For Printing, Sublimation, or Digital Scrapbooking: Use the PNG file.
We know this can seem overwhelming at first, but after doing it once, it becomes second nature. You've got this!
